JERUSALEM Ricky Nolasco Angels Jersey , Nov. 16 (Xinhua) -- A Jewish man was stabbed in central Jerusalem Sunday evening in an apparent militant attack, Police spokesperson Mickey Rosenfeld told Xinhua.


The victim, in his early thirties, was stabbed in the back by a screwdriver and suffered moderate wounds on Hanevi'im street in central Jerusalem. He was taken to the Sha'are Tzedek Medical Center in the city. The suspect is at-large and the police have erected roadblocks and checkpoints in order to track him down.


Rosenfeld said the victim was able to walk after the stabbing and reached a nearby border guard patrol, reporting the attack. The police believes the assailant to be Arab and that he ran towards the Damascus Gate in the city.


Mounting tensions between Jews and Arabs in Jerusalem have spread out to different parts of Israel, and several violent attacks occurred.
