Keaton Jennings and Liam Dawson are to join the England squad as replacements for the remaining two matches of the Test series in India. Jennings, the uncapped Durham opener who is set to make his England Lions debut against United Arab Emirates in Dubai tomorrow, replaces Haseeb Hameed, whose tour ended with a broken finger in Mohali.Dawson, the Hampshire allrounder who was also selected for the Lions programme this winter before being released to play for Rangpur Riders in the Bangladesh Premier League, was called up to replace Zafar Ansari, who is still struggling with the back injury he sustained in the second Test in Visakhapatnam. Ansari will stay with the squad and continue to receive medical support in India before returning to England on December 8.Jennings, 24, made his Durham debut in 2012 and was the leading run-scorer in the 2016 Specsavers County Championship season with 1548 runs at an average of 64, which led to him sweeping a host of awards and earning a spot in the England Lions squad. He has been on the Lions programme for the last month, initially at the Performance Centre in Loughborough and for the last two weeks in Dubai, based at the ICC Academy. He is due to join the England squad in Mumbai on December 5 when they begin preparations for the fourth Test which starts at Wankhede Stadium three days later. The son of former South Africa coach Ray, Jennings was preferred ahead of Nick Gubbins, the left-handed batsman from Middlesex, and Kents Daniel Bell-Drummond. Jennings call-up does not mean he is certain of a debut in Mumbai as England also have Ben Duckett, who opened in Bangladesh, in the squad, albeit his form is a concern.Dawson, 26, made ODI and T20I debuts this year after impressing on last winters Lions programme in the UAE. He is also expected to arrive in Mumbai early next week.It is the second year in succession that Ansaris involvement in a tour has been in some way curtailed. He was picked for the tour of the UAE 12 months ago only to suffer a broken thumb hours after the squad announcement.Dawson was preferred to Jack Leach despite claiming only 20 Championship wickets in 2016 at a cost of 43.85 apiece. Leach claimed 65 Championship wickets at an average of 21.87 - no England-qualified player claimed more in Division One - but his Somerset captain in 2016, Chris Rogers, suggested he had emotionally... a bit of a way to go before he was ready for international cricket. Dawson is the better batsman and fielder, though, and is seen as a reliable, defensive spinner. His attitude impressed the England management when he played limited-overs cricket earlier in the year. The England squad has now disbanded for five days of holiday, before reconvening to prepare for the Mumbai Test which starts from December 8. Most of the players have travelled to Dubai for a short break, although Stuart Broads time there will be spent training with the Lions as he aims to overcome the foot injury which kept him out of the Mohali Test. Perhaps Carroll was so prepared for a break because he believes there is very little the Seattle Seahawks need heading into the off-season. "I dont see anything that we need to add. We just have to get better," Carroll said. Brett Cecil Jersey . -- Los Angeles Lakers guard Jordan Farmar will be out for roughly four weeks after tearing his left hamstring.MONTREAL -- Having Alessandro Nesta back on the field this week was a welcome sight for the Montreal Impact. The former Italian international defender has battled a nagging adductor injury since the third game of the Major League Soccer season, but looks ready to play again. "He was in good spirits because he was back with the group," coach Marco Schallibaum said Thursday. "It shows he wants to play, and that experience and quality he has is a big plus for us." Schallibaum keeps his starting lineup secret, but Nesta should be back in his central defence pairing with fellow Italian Matteo Ferrari when the Impact (6-2-2) end a 10-day break with a home game against the Philadelphia Union on Saturday night. They should also have fullback Jeb Brovsky, who has been wearing a mask to protect a nose broken in six places when he went up for a header in a Voyageurs Cup match against Vancouver on May 15. Montreal remains without defenders Nelson Rivas (knee) and Maxim Tissot (fractured toe), midfielders Davy Arnaud (concussion) and Andrea Pisanu (thigh) and forward Daniele Paponi (thigh). And defender Hassoun Camara, who helped fill Nestas spot on defence, left practice early Thursday. Schallibaum said he was only tired and should be ready to play on Saturday. The rangy Nesta may have slowed a step as he nears the end of his storied career, but he remains a leader and a presence on the pitch for the Impact. Just ask Patrice Bernier, the veteran midfielder who works closely with the defence to recover balls and start the attack. "Its Alessandro Nesta," Bernier said. "Its good for our team that we kept on doing well when he was gone, but he has that aura, that leadership. "Hes calm on the ball, so its not necessary for me to always drop back and get thee ball.dddddddddddd. It allows me to concentrate more on my offensive play and whats ahead of me." Nesta played 19 seasons in Italy with Lazio and AC Milan and made 78 appearances for Italy, including three World Cup campaigns. Considered one of the top central defenders of his era, Nesta was named four times to Europes best 11 squad. Surprisingly, the Impact got him without making him a Designated Player, or one who makes more than the top rate under the leagues salary cap. Nesta said when he joined the club last summer that money didnt matter and that he wanted to experience MLS along with former Italy teammate Marco Di Vaio, the teams only DP. He got into eight games at the end of 2012 and played the first three this season before he was forced to leave a game March 16 against Toronto only 12 minutes in. He returned three games later to face Columbus and Chicago before he was sidelined again for three games. With Ferrari also missing three games with an injury, Schallibaum was forced to experiment with his back line, with Brovsky and Camara carrying most of the load. Youngsters Karl Ouimette, Wandrille Lefevre and Tissot saw playing time. But they are glad to have Nesta back. "Hes a general, not only with his play but he also talks to make sure everybody is focused," Bernier said. "And its nice also to have another (experienced) person because its a great 1-2 with Matteo, but when youre three its even better." Swiss fullback Dennis Iapichino, whose play has picked up after a rocky start, may remain at left back with Brovsky on the right, unless Camara plays. A busy week awaits. After Saturdays game, the Impact fly to Vancouver for the second leg of their Amway Canadian Championship series. Montreal will then visit Kansas City on June 1. ' ' '
